The metro in the capital of Urals accepted its first passengers on the 26th of April 1991. It consisted of three stations only and was the smallest metro in the world. Today Yekaterinburg metro consists of one line, which is 12.7 km long, goes through all the city from north till south and has 9 stations. Metro is very popluar among citizens and city guests, that's why it is always crowded. The specific passenger traffic, calculating on a station, as well as on one kilometer, stably occupies the fourth place in Russia after Moscow, Saint-Petersburg and Novosibirsk metro.
